Lately I've received a steady stream of invitations to present at various conferences. Please be aware before you email me that I do NOT present at conferences where I will be charged a registration fee. I don't know where this bizarre practice originated, but it is becoming more and more prevalent, perhaps because educational budgets are declining. Whatever the reason, I'm always willing to negotiate a fee to talk to people about the work and research I've been doing, but I refuse to pay for the opportunity and am too busy to make use of it even if I had no objections.
